Support for BASF Agricultural Solutions in establishing a Competence Center for the Microsoft Power Platform.
Overview of the collaboration
BASF Agricultural Solutions required support in managing and further developing PowerApps, as well as in establishing a Competence Center.
The result: more than 50 PowerApps were successfully implemented and enhanced. Furthermore, the apps were documented and handed over to the newly established in-house Competence Center.

The Challenge
BASF Agricultural Solutions faced the challenge of managing and further developing a portfolio of approximately 30 existing PowerApps, while also addressing a growing demand for new, customized applications.
The lack of standardization in development led to inconsistent user experiences and hindered efficient application lifecycle management. This situation called for a comprehensive strategy to optimize processes, enhance quality, and accelerate app development.
Our Solution
We developed a holistic strategy based on several key components:
Establishment of a Competence Center
Together with BASF Agricultural Solutions, we expanded an internal Competence Center specialized in managing and further developing the Power Platform. This center ensures sustainable support and global scalability of applications.
Standardization and Governance
By introducing a comprehensive Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) approach and clearly defined development guidelines, we were able to standardize development processes. Consistent UI/UX standards ensured a uniform user experience, while robust governance strategies safeguarded data security.
Further development and creation of new apps
The existing portfolio of 30 applications was optimized, and over 20 additional applications were newly developed to meet specific business requirements. In total, more than 50 PowerApps were implemented globally in business-critical processes.
Implementation of Requirement Engineering
At the beginning of the project, we placed particular emphasis on designing and implementing a solid requirement engineering process. This ensured that all BASF Agricultural Solutions’ requirements were accurately captured and documented.
The Result
Increased efficiency
Improved development times and higher application quality enabled faster implementation of business requirements.
Global reach
Over 50 applications were successfully implemented and transitioned to maintenance, optimizing numerous business processes in agriculture, research, and production.
Sustainability
The Competence Center ensures that PowerApps can be maintained and further developed in the long term.
Competence Center setup and handover
At the end of the project, the applications were handed over seamlessly, supported by comprehensive training sessions and documentation to ensure the Competence Center’s future autonomy.
Conclusion
Our collaboration with BASF Agricultural Solutions successfully demonstrates how structured processes, technological expertise, and a collaborative approach can support companies in tackling global challenges and driving innovation.
The Microsoft Power Platform has proven to be a key tool for achieving efficiency, scalability, and long-term value creation.
