Standardization and increased efficiency in PowerApps development

Standardized processes and optimized management for the world’s largest chemical company, from the adoption of existing apps to the development of new solutions

The challenge

One of the world’s largest chemical companies was faced with the task of managing and developing a large number of PowerApps that had been created by a previous development team. In total, the portfolio comprised around 20 existing apps. In addition, there was an increasing demand for new, customized apps for various company divisions. The lack of unified development standards led to inconsistencies in user experience (UI/UX) and made it difficult to manage the entire application lifecycle efficiently. This affected both the speed and quality of the delivered apps.

The solution

To address these challenges, we set up a dedicated PowerApps department within the group, specializing in supporting and further developing internal applications. Our team took over the management and improvement of the existing 20 apps and took responsibility for the new development of apps in a specific business area.

We were able to unify the entire development process by introducing standardized development guidelines based on our application lifecycle management, including comprehensive solution design and clearly defined UI/UX principles. In addition, we established a robust application lifecycle management (ALM) that significantly increased the efficiency and quality of app development.

The result

The result was a significantly improved development time and a higher quality of the delivered apps, which now meet the company’s increased requirements. Meanwhile, 64 apps are managed, maintained and development prioritized.
